I was first licensed in 1963, age 13, as WN8KOR. Later I moved to Florida and became WN4SVO. I got my general in 1964 and became WA4SVO. In 1995, my call was changed to W4SVO. I have had this call ever since. I hold an extra class license.

My first contest was the novice roundup in 1963. I placed 3rd in the U.S. I operated several contests with Gene, W4OO(ex.W4BRB), from the Bahamas back in the 70's. Also operated at N4WW in several contests in the 80's. I have operated in just about all the major contests.,mostly as a single-band category. All total I have 49 awards, 26 top ten 80mtrs, 6 top ten 160mtrs, 2 top ten WPX, 4 top ten IARU. contests. I won 2 first place plaques in 1980 and 1988. I hold two 4th district records: 1994 QRP SS Phone@W4PZV and 80 mtr ARRL DX Phone, 4th highest score in the US . I started operating at NQ4I in 1998 as the 80 mtr operator., and have been back almost every year since. I have also paticipated in some CQ WW CW contests as the 160 mtr op. I am 57 years old and am an Irrigation tech, plus own an Irrigation business. I build all my own antennas, mostly for the low bands, where my passion is. I have 335 count ries worked and confirmed. I am on the honor roll and a member of ARRL.
