W1MD, first licensed as KA1EEF in 1980 (have also held KB1QT, NB1H, and WT1S). First contest experience (pseudo contest) was field day 1980 with the Port City Amateur Radio Club in Portsmouth NH. I was the novice station...next contest experience was CQWW CW 1980 placing 14th in the world as KA1EEF/QRP. Didn't get really active in contesting again until 1985 when I met K1FWE and we began to build the NB1H/K1ST/K1TI multi-multi at the stations of K1CA and K1FWE. Operated many multi-op events from 1985 through 1990 at "The Hill" in Derry NH with many top five finishes but nothing higher than 2nd place. Lived in MN (RF Black hole of the world) from 1991 through 1995 with little contest activity except for VP5M in the IOTA contest in 1993.
Moved back to NH in early 1996 with a quick stop in OH where I met K8AZ and operated the first of several contests from Tom's fine station in eastern Ohio. Had aspirations to build a M/M after returning to NH...collected over 600' of Rohn 25 (of which only 40' went vertical) then my second child (Katie) arrived and priorities changed...
In late 2002 operated from PJ2T as part of the world winning M/2 team along with K1AR, WC4E, K8NZ, and N8BJQ. I have since joined the CCC and operated there almost every year as part of a CQWW SSB team or S/O for CQ WPX..
Upon moving to Floriday in 2002 I have had the pleasure to operate with N4OX at his field day style contest setup as well as at N4PN's beautiful beach station in the pan handle. Most recently I have been fortunate to be able to join the NQ4I gang and operate CQWW SSB and CW and ARRL CW events over the past couple of years.
I enjoy operating from the Caribbean as well as stateside and typically enjoy being part of a M/M team...the cameraderie of multi-op teams is infectious...and I don't have to sit in the chair for 48 hours!!! :)
